Shops, restaurants and other services in Ražanj

In Ražanji there is a semi-trailer, the so-called center of the village, where there is a well-stocked shop that operates all year round. You will also find a cafe with a bar, 2 pizzerias, 2 restaurants (one with a view) and an information center. In season, there is also a small market in the village every morning with fresh fruit, vegetables, honey, olive oils and also an ice cream stand that is open until the evening hours. You can reach the semi-trailer on foot in about 10 minutes.

Near Varoš beach, there is an ERROR BEACH BAR open by the sea in the season with beautiful seating, views of the sea and a wide range of drinks. Their drink menu includes, for example, fresh orange juice, Czech beer, and you can also order fries or various burgers (meat, cheese and vegetarian).

A short distance from the Ljoljinica-Mezarocase beach there is another small grocery store and a pizzeria overlooking the sea. The second boat taxi also departs from there towards Rogoznica and back, the first boat taxi departs from the port.

There is a small wine bar with seating near the harbor which is open in high season.

There is also a diving base in Ražanji.

To Rogoznica by boat taxi

A nice experience is a trip by boat taxi to Rogoznice. Taxis depart from Ražanj port every hour in season. The port of Ražanj can be reached on foot from the apartment in 4 minutes.

In the old part of Rogoznica there are many restaurants, ice cream stands, cafes, a cultural center and a small fishing port. During the season, there are evening cultural performances in the open air.

In the immediate vicinity of the port of Marina Frapa, there is an interesting natural phenomenon, Lake Dračí oko, which is connected to the sea and therefore salty. There are special conditions in lake water. There is no oxygen in its bottom layer, only hydrogen sulfide, so this part of the lake is lifeless. There is enough oxygen in its upper layers, so the conditions here are similar to those in the sea. For example, oysters, crayfish, crayfish and lobsters live here, and in great numbers.

We go to the Dragon's Eye when the children want to jump into the water from a great height. It's a challenge for adults too.

A path leads around the lake to a hill from which there is a beautiful view of the center of Rogoznice and the port. Especially at sunset and in the evening it is beautifully lit.

Cape Punta Planka

Cape Punta Planka is a place that geographically and climatically divides the Adriatic into north and south, a place where north and south winds, cyclones, anticyclones and sea currents collide. A place where there can be no wind at the same time and big waves on the other side. A place where it rains on one side and not on the other.

On this rocky outcrop stands the small Romanesque-Gothic church of St. John, built in 1062 as a thank you for the miracle performed by Trogir Bishop John, who saved the sailors and the entire cargo of the shipwrecked ship. The church is about 10 m from the sea.

Cape Planka (Cape Diomedes) and its oddities are already described in the oldest preserved descriptions of Greek sailors. They are mentioned in Homer's Illiad, the Greek historian Timaios already in the 4th century. B.C. described the unusual natural anomalies that occur here.

We go to Punta Planca for sunrises and magical sunsets. You can get there on foot from the apartment in about 20 minutes.

Movar hill and fortress

To the west of the inhabited part of Ražanje, roughly in the middle of a peninsula interwoven with a network of dry stone walls, there is a 120 m highhill of Movar with the fortress of the same name, built by Napoleon by the army. A footpath about 400 m long leads from the road to the fortress and offers beautiful panoramic views of the surroundings. We like to go there for sunrises and sunsets. Runners can run it :)

There is another footpath about 1.5 km long that leads through the peninsula, which will take you to a bay with a nice pebble beach of Movar. But don't look for any amenities here, just nature.

You can walk to the Cape Movar with the chapel of St. Ante from the end of the 18th century. On June 13, mass is held here every year (starts at 9 a.m.).

Primošten

Historic town, full of magical winding streets...

Primošten is a very popular tourist destination for its pleasant homely environment, pebbly beaches in the city center and, above all, for its picturesque historic core. Several original fishermen's houses and part of the walls with a large entrance gate from the period of Venetian rule have been preserved in it.

The architectural layout of Primošten is interesting. The alleys rise up to the dominant, the parish church of St. Jiří, who has ruled the city since the 15th century. In addition to the beautiful view of the whole of Primošten and the surrounding areas from the church, you can see inside the well-known icon of the Mother of God in a silver frame and a baroque altar.

In season, you will find a lot of different souvenir stands, attractions for children, ice cream stands, open restaurants by the coast and in the streets of the city.

The journey from Ražanje to Primošten takes about 30 minutes by car.

Trip to Trogir

In the summer season, we prefer to go to Trogir early in the morning (around 7), when the town is slowly waking up. The old stone streets are still empty, the fruit and vegetable market and cafes are already open. We go to our favorite cafe Tinel, browse the streets or have breakfast in one of the open restaurants. The best time to visit Trogir is spring or autumn. Fewer people live here. In the summer it's worth getting up :) Trogir has its great charm. The streets are already full of people from 9:30, and even more so in the evening.

Ancient Trogir is one of the most visited towns in Dalmatia. Its historic core is listed on the UNESCO list as a unique example of a Romanesque island town. You can walk through the city gate almost to the Saint Lawrence Cathedral. Almost 400 years in the making (1213 to 1609), it is a mixture of different historical styles that the builders managed to harmonize remarkably. Its 47-meter-high bell tower has become a natural landmark of Trogir and offers a wonderful view of the city. The main entrance to the cathedral is an impressive work of art. It was carved from stone by master Radovan in 1240 and is guarded by two lions on the sides. Adam and Eve stand on them and cover their most intimate places with a fig leaf.

Trogir was founded by the ancient Greeks. They called him Tragurion (Goat's Top). The city's history has been tumultuous at times. The Kamerlengo fortress was built here in the fifteenth century by the occupying army of the Republic of Venice as part of the fortifications against the incursions of the Ottoman troops. Soldiers lived here and there was also a prison. It is connected to the legend of the girl Rafiola, who was imprisoned here in the tower. In order to pass the long time before her lover freed her from here, she baked delicious cakes that she sent to him. Trogir ravioli with almond filling have become a legend and are still baked here today. There is a nice view of the city from the tower of the fortress.

If you want to indulge in a local specialty at local or nearby restaurants, ask for brodet, which is a stew made from several types of fish meat with a good dose of onions, tomatoes, vegetables and spices.

(I got some information from novinek.cz by Petr Veselý.)

To the source of the Cetina River

The journey into the interior to the source of the Cetina River, which rises in the Dinaric Mountains. A magical place worth visiting. The longer you are with him, the more you want him:) You look at the beautiful turquoise color and the water is crystal clear. Rock swallows fly in flocks over the spring to drink. The water has a temperature of about 4 degrees Celsius in summer. While we were there, a pack of five half-wild dogs also came to drink at the spring. They are used to people, they were not dangerous. You can come across them here and there in that area.

Cetina belongs to karst submersible rivers that arise in karst cave complexes. It flows into the sea in the town of Omiš. The source of the Cetina River is an official Croatian national monument. The village of Cetina is about 10 kilometers from the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

You can get there by car from Ražanje in approx. 1 h 45 min. We set out early in the morning.

Motor boat trip

If you like to explore the shores of Croatia from a boat, I recommend a speedboat trip with my husband's dad, who takes good care of our apartments and is there all season. You can rent a trip with him. We fell in love with the Bay of Old Trogir, where there is a sandy bottom, and the Bay of the island of Malý Drvenik, where the water is so beautifully blue that the eyes pass over:) You can spend at least half a day in these places . I recommend the Blue Lagoon near Trogir in the off-season, otherwise there are a lot of boats and a lot of people.

Nature park Vrana Lake

For those who like nature, I would like to give a tip for a trip to Vrana Lake, which is the largest natural lake in Croatia. There is an ornithological reserve in the northwestern part of the lake. The lake is a refuge for endangered and rare bird species, a wintering ground for about 100,000 waterfowl, and a resting and feeding ground for many migratory birds. The best time to visit is spring or autumn, but even in summer there is something to see - e.g. kingfishers, various types of herons or cormorants. Plan your visit either early in the morning or before sunset, as this is when the birds are most active. Take binoculars with you. There is a small information center by the lake with souvenirs and various publications about birds. Binoculars can also be rented in the info center. It is open from 7 o'clock. There you will also receive a map of the entire area in Czech with various tips on hiking routes and cycling routes.

When you go up to Kamenjak, you get an incredible view of the lake. There is also a lookout point. In the distance you will see the Kornati Islands and the town of Pakoštane.

Several scenic hiking trails (e.g. botanical, rocky) or cycle paths of varying difficulty (e.g. lake, panoramic, rural or dry wall route) lead around Lake Vránský jezera. Bikes can be rented at the lake. Everything is well marked for tourists.

It is 1.5 hours by car from our apartment.
